My Little Dollar Store/Goodwill Christmas Tree...

Wow, Christmas is just around the corner!  I don't know about you, but if I hear one more person say, "I'm already done." to me, I think I'll scream!!! I am NOT done! I never am until right up to the big day.  I'm not sure why, but I think I like to ponder over the gifts I buy and change my mind 50 times or so.  Yesterday, I took a break from the craziness, and worked on a project I had been procrastinating on.  About a month or so ago, I found a small Christmas tree at Goodwill for $15.  I really wanted a tree in my dining room this year, and since the one I had been scoping out was $200, $15 sounded pretty good to me!

I wanted to create something beautiful without spending a lot of money.  I let the kids put colored lights on our real tree, so this I wanted this tree to be my pretty little mom-tree with white lights and gold & silver ornaments.  I found the perfect ornaments at the dollar store.  Then, using some old sheet music I had lying around, my crafty friend Joy and I made a huge topper and some little pinwheel ornaments to go on it as well.

Well, without further ado, here she is:

I just love this tree topper. I will confess, it wasn't an original idea.  I copied Miss Mustard Seed on this one.

We weren't sure how to do it, since she doesn't give instructions, so we just started rolling the sheet music until it looked right.  We staples and glued it in place onto a small paper plate.  To place it on the tree, we just stapled a ribbon to the back of the plate, as shown below.

I just cut the edges of some sheet music with zig-zag border scissors, then fan folded it to make these little pinwheels.

The skirt is just a remnant I had in my pile.

This is what my poor old lab does while she is waiting for Daddy to come home. Sad, huh?

I found these little musical instrument and reindeer ornaments at the Dollar Tree, and thought they were perfect!

A few scraps of burlap made the perfect garland.

I just love it! What do you think?
