October is here!

Yay, October is finally here! That means I can use my cool new Halloween blog template, drag out all the Halloween decorations, and start planning costumes!  The kids have been begging to buy costumes for about a month now, since they are in stores in July!!!  I prefer to make costumes, but I usually end up giving in and buying the ones they want.  I thought I'd post some pics from the past.  Anyone have any tips for getting a clear picture of a lit jack-o-lantern without using your flash?

$3 Chair Redo

I finally managed to finish up a couple of projects I've been trying to knock out this week.  I picked up this chair for $3.  I just loved the design on the back of it.  It seemed to have such potential.

And here it is after a little fixin' up:

I had in mind what color/pattern of fabric I thought I wanted, but then I saw a pack of two pillowcases for $7 at Walmart that had this pretty paisley pattern. Perfect! And, there is plenty left over for another project I have in mind.

Easy as 123

Update: The "1,2,3" vinyl number decals are now available in my Etsy shop. Just go here:

I don't know about you but I am lovin' all the numbered decor out there lately.

So I saw these at Target...

But a set of three of them was $52.  Yeah, I'm too cheap to even pay Target prices sometimes.

So I picked these up for $7:

Aren't they pretty?  Yeah, not so much.

And now after a little white paint, and some black vinyl that I already had.  And, of course with the help of the Cricut. ( I don't know what I ever did without this thing.)

I just love them!

I'm thinkin'

Williams Sonoma

My daughter was so cute yesterday. She said to me, "Mommy, did you know tomorrow's the first day of Fall? You didn't tell me that!"  Maybe because I started celebrating and decorating for Fall a week ago.  It is definitely my favorite season.  So, I have a few projects planned but this week can't seem to find time to get crackin' on them.  I get very grumpy if I don't have a project in the works at any given time.  But, they are in my brain.  I'm thinkin':

Last Week's CVS haul...

Sorry I'm posting this so late, but I've been busy redecorating and putting everything back together. Here goes...

First transaction:

2 Airwick spray air fresheners
1 Airwick plug-in air fresheners
2 Airwick plug-in refills
2 Goldfish snacks
1 Brach's candycorn bag
1 Nivea men's bodywash
1 Tylenol heat pack
1 energy chew pack

Coupons used:

$5 off CVS purchase here
Nivea coupon RP 7/25 or 8/29
Tylenol coupon here
Tylenol coupon here (you can use both)
Bogo Airwick spray SS 8/08
Free Airwick warmer wyb 2 refills SS 8/15
$1 off (2) Airwick refills SS 8/08, 8/15, 8/29
2 Goldfish coupons here

Minus $4.99 ECBs from last week

Total $7.30 (Paid with money left on same giftcard as last time)

Have $14.97 ECBs for next time

Second Transaction:

4 12-packs Coke products
2 Almond Joy snack packs

Coupons used:

2 coupons for Almond Joy (one that printed at the red machine, and one I got in the mail from CVS)

Paid with some of ECBs from previous transaction, bringing total down to $1.98, which I paid with money left on giftcard.(You can really make a $25 giftcard to CVS go far)

Total shelf price for all items:  $72.19
Total after coupons & ECBs: $9.28
Total out of pocket, thanks to giftcard: Nothing!
So, grand total OOP w/out giftcard would have been $9.28

And, I have $5 in ECBs to use for next week.

Wondering about this giftcard thing?
Here's how it works:

CVS will take competitor's prescription coupons. Rite aid pretty much always has a $25 giftcard when you transfer a prescription coupon out there.  You can find one here or just go to their website.  I have a prescription I have to fill every month, so each time I go I give CVS one of these coupons and they hand me back a giftcard! It's that easy! Using coupons and ECBs, you can make a $25 giftcard last all month long to pay for your transactions!

Another Pottery Barn Knockoff...

Yeah, I have a problem hobby.  I just can't help myself. I keep stumbling across these great thrifty finds.  I know someone out there gets me.  I see lots of folks out in Bloggyland who are just like me.  Folks who, when their spouse asks them to run to the store for chicken, they end up at a thrift store. Yup. You know who you are.  So I tell myself, I'm just gonna pop in for a minute. Just to make sure there's nothin' in there I'm gonna miss if I don't go in.  After all, the color change begins on Sunday. For those of you who have no idea what this means, Goodwill tags their items with a color (red, blue, green, yellow, and orange).  Each week beginning on Sunday, a certain color is half price. All week.  (I know Goodwill will one day recognize me for all the free advertising I provide for them, and start paying me to sponsor my blog.) Maybe I'll rename my blog

Oh, back to my thrifty find.  So, Pottery Barn has these for sale for $149.

Clearly someone out there is actually paying their asking prices. Just not me.  So, I stumbled upon these beauties:

Cool, huh?  But I hate orange.  And, it doesn't go with anything in my house.

So, after a couple of coats of Rustoleum's Glossy Black Metallic paint, here's the finished product:

Boy, am I glad I stopped by.  What would I do without my giant spoon and fork?  Oh, and they were only $3 !
